Matsuo Densetsu Co., Ltd. is a locally based company that has been involved in electrical,
piping and civil engineering works related to construction for public and private organizations for many years. We spoke to Etsuro Matsuo,
the company's president and CEO, and Yoshihiro Matsuki, the company's senior managing director,
about the background and impressions of the introduction of Remote Monitoring System and Service L・eye, and their outlook for the future.
Q1.When did you start to fully enter the photovoltaic generation business?
Q2.Did you realize the importance of monitoring from the beginning?
Q3.How did you introduce L·eye and what are your thoughts after using it?
Q4.How exactly is it being used?
Q5.How do you feel about the support?
Q6.What are your prospects for the future?
We first started about 20 years ago, when we were only contracted for electrical work. A few years later, we started to take on both residential panel installation and electrical work. At one time, we worked on as many as 2,000 houses, but now our main focus is industrial use, with 95% of our work delivered within Kagoshima Prefecture.
We weren't aware of it when we were mainly dealing with residential use, but when it comes to industrial use, the scale of the sites has become larger and panels are often installed in places that cannot be checked immediately, so we have come to realize the importance of monitoring. Mega solar power plants are expensive, so monitoring is essential to find the cause and restore operations as quickly as possible. We believe that our maintenance efforts through monitoring will help protect our customers' assets.
One of the reasons we introduced this product was because it was recommended by the company that placed the order, but after using it, we realized how highly functional it is. The status display is designed to be easy to understand, so you can recognize it at a glance, and the power generation diagnostic function, which tells us whether the power generation is appropriate for the amount of solar radiation, is very useful. Until then, we had to calculate whether the power generation was appropriate for the amount of solar radiation, so this is convenient and hassle-free.
Two 50-inch large displays have been installed in the company, and they display the centralized monitoring screen and web camera footage. The centralized monitoring screen can be adjusted to display multiple sites at once by adjusting the browser size, making it possible to see the power generation and inverter status of all sites at a glance. Even on holidays, staff members check the screen on their computers or smartphones, and multiple notification email destinations have been set up so that someone can rush to the site immediately if something happens.
Laplace System's call center always responds promptly. I feel at ease knowing that a designated person will respond courteously until the very end. I am satisfied with the telephone support, but I would be even more grateful if a worker would come to the site every time there is a problem.
In the future, I would like to focus on stable renewable energy sources such as hydroelectric power, geothermal power, and biomass. Biomass in particular will generate continuous employment through the revitalization of forestry and the transportation of fuel, leading to regional revitalization. Obtaining permits and licenses will be difficult, and the facilities will be large-scale, but I think it is a business that can be tackled together with the government. I think that Laplace System's products can be used widely in systems other than photovoltaic generation, so I would definitely like to consider introducing them in new fields.
